For years, I've been reimagining dishes - finding creative ways to make something beautiful and delicious that works within constraints. Not because I was trying to lose weight, but because cooking for people you love means finding ways to make them happy at the table.

It turns out the same approach that taught me to reimagine dishes for others was exactly what I needed to lose 150lbs myself.

I Became A Different Sort of Cook

I didn't stop wanting rich, satisfying food. But I stopped making the versions that were keeping me big.

I learned to completely reimagine dishes - not just swap one ingredient for another, but rethink the entire approach. Finding ways to get the textures, flavors, and satisfaction you're craving through completely different techniques and ingredients.

These aren't "lightened up" versions. They're different dishes entirely that fill the same role on your plate and in your head. They look impressive. They taste like something you'd be proud to serve. And they let you lose weight without the constant feeling of deprivation.

This is cooking with imagination and creativity, not restriction. And if you love to cook but don't have the time or headspace to reinvent your entire repertoire - that's exactly what I'm here to help with.

Here are some things that did NOT help me lose 150 lbs...

Calory counting. Did not do this one day to lose 150 lbs. It ends up being just estimates in and estimates out which has never had a useful result for me.

Cheat days. I haven't felt hungry, or deprived. I have definitely eaten out, and when I do I might have gelato or a pizza. It's not one day a week that I'm looking forward to because the rest of the week is so hard though.

"Diet" branded foods. Often I find they might be low in sugar or fat, but those elements have been replaced with other things that aren't great for you either.

Batch cooking. The same food on repeat, mealprepping, endless salads, no thank you! Food is joy and I want to cook and eat food that I'm genuinely excited about!

Beating myself up when I make a bad food choice. I've done this before - it's the point you stop recording on whatever system you're using. I'm not. Just start again. Whatever the bad food choice was - it won't matter when you're where you want to be.

Starving myself. Eating the way that I have been, I don't feel hungry after meals. My plates are full of food! It's just cooked differently, and the make up of what's on the plate has changed. Any "diet" I've tried where you look at the miserable portion on your plate in disgust before you've even started eating it has never worked for me.
